Huskers Prep for Busy Weekend in Pool

The Nebraska swimming and diving team has a busy weekend ahead competing against both Northern Iowa and South Dakota State. The Huskers will travel to Cedar Falls, Iowa on Friday, Oct. 30 to take on Northern Iowa at 4 p.m. The following day the team will return home to host South Dakota State on Saturday, Oct. 31 at 2 p.m. in the Devaney Natatorium.

Nebraska enters this busy weekend coming off of a successful Alumni meet, which featured a record alumni turnout and saw several Huskers capture victories. In Nebraska’s last dual meet competition, the Huskers defeated Iowa State, 187-113. Taryn Collura, Katt Sickle and Anna Filipcic led the way against the Cyclones each notching two wins.

Nebraska holds a 7-0 all-time record against Northern Iowa. The Panthers will enter Friday’s meet with a 2-2 record boasting victories over South Dakota and South Dakota State. Northern Iowa’s two losses have come at the hands of Iowa and Michigan State.

The Huskers also have an impressive all-time record against South Dakota State defeating the Jackrabbits in all 11 meetings. South Dakota State will travel to Lincoln, Neb., with a 0-2 record having dropped contests to Northern Iowa and North Dakota.

Saturday’s meet against South Dakota State will feature a Halloween theme. 100 trick or treat pillow cases and 100 Halloween duckies will be given out at the meet. Costumes are encouraged for those attending the meet.

Following this weekend’s action Nebraska will travel to Lawrence, Kan., for a dual meet against Kansas. The Huskers and Jayhawks will square off at 5 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 6 at the University of Kansas’ Robinson Natatorium.
