Hungarian Swimmer Daniel Klaris Commits to NAIA DI Midland University

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Daniel Klaris, a current high school senior from Budapest, Hungary, has committed to swim for NAIA Division I Midland University under head coach Ryan Bubb. Klaris will graduate from Kürt Alapítványi Gimnázium in spring 2020 and join the Warrior’s class of 2024.

Klaris is currently a swimmer of the Hungarian Swimming Association along with swimming for the DMTK-KVSE club team. He has had multiple opportunities to swim on the national level. He has qualified for the Hungarian Short Course Nationals, Hungarian Nationals and the Budapest Open.

Klaris says his coach György Lőrinczi helped him develop a program that would aid him as he aimed toward studying and swimming in the United States. “We built up a program based on my skills and muscle strength to be able to perform the best,” Klaris said.

“I’m thrilled to announce my verbal commitment to Midland University and it’s intercollegiate Swimming program of 2024. On my campus visit, I really had the chance to experience the kind of atmosphere at Midland I was looking for both Academic and Athletic wise. I loved to see how family-like the team is and how good the relationship is between the swimmers and Coach Ryan. I’m extremely thankful to my parents, coaches, and everybody who has supported me throughout the process. ‘What a great day to be a Warrior’”

This year at the 2020 KCAC Swimming and Diving Championships with Midland, Klaris would have had multiple finals performances with his current best times converted to yards. Most notably, he would have placed 5th in the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle and 100 backstroke.

Best LCM Times:
50 freestyle – 25.60
100 freestyle – 56.05
100 backstroke – 1:06.47

This year, the Midland Warriors were the KCAC Champions. The men’s team had 12 victories including five relay wins. Sophomore Scott Cain won the 50, 100 and 200 freestyle, qualifying for NAIA Nationals in all three and setting KCAC and Midland records in the 50 and 100.

At the NAIA National Championships, Midland placed 4th as a team. Their swim program has only existed for three years and have had NAIA qualifiers all three years. Junior Tyler Penney became the Warrior’s first national champion this year. He was the victor in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 1:59.10.

Klaris will begin his swimming career at Midland University beginning fall 2020.
