The men’s 2020 Pac-12 Swimming and Diving Championships are set to begin tonight in Federal Way, Washington. Cal enters the meet as the 2-time defending champions and heavy favorites to win it, with a battle brewing for the runner-up spot. We’re seeing a slight schedule change this year. Swimmers will still compete in the 800 free relay tonight. However, the 400 medley relay was moved to day 1 in place of the 200 medley relay.
All sessions of the meet will be streamed live via the Pac-12 Now app and the Pac-12 website. To access Pac-12 Network live, click here. Each day’s prelims begin at 11:00 a.m. pacific, while finals will take place at 6:00 p.m. pacific. The webcast for Friday and Saturday finals will start at 6:30 p.m. pacific. Mike-in-Dallas — one tip: as of recently, you can get Pac-12 Networks through over-the-top streaming service FuboTV. If I were you, I’d do the 7-day free trial for this meet.
Big 10, ACC, SEC networks on east coast cable (Fios), not PAC 10. – no wonder USC is considering leaving for the Big 12, wonder which other schools may follow.
It’s the PAC-12 conference. Has been since 2011. But I agree with schools looking to leave for more lucrative options. Larry Scott is the WORST conference president by a wide margin, and it’s not even close.
Interesting article by Andy Staples in The Athletic yesterday about the potential for the Big 12 to expand via taking in USC and perhaps one or two other PAC12 (and I still remember it as PAC 8) schools – If USC goes, which others are likely to follow? These conference expansions are driven by media market interest and size, so it would seem like one of the San Francisco area schools – Stanford or Cal would be the next most likely candidates, followed by Washington or Arizona. If 4 schools move, that would bring the expanded Big 12 to a size comparable to the ACC, SEC and BIG10, essentially creating 4 large super conferences which would work well for expansion… Read more »
If the 4 superconference model is the future, and that conversation has been happening for probably a decade, seems like the Big 12 has the least bargaining power to survive.
The Pac-12 currently has these media markets locked up:
1) Seattle
2) All of California
3) Phoenix
4) Portland
5) Salt Lake City
That’s 8 of the 30 largest media markets in the country.
Now, not that the Big 12 is devoid of markets. However you want to dice up Texas + Kansas City + sharing the Pittsburgh market via WV is not…nothing. But if I’m the Pac-12, I feel like I’m in the dominant negotiating position there and I’m trying to sign up Texas, Kansas,… Read more »
I would have agreed before reading the Athletic article, but Staples makes a compelling case for why USC has incentive to leave (ability to set up a private network akin to the Longhorn Network) and the chain of dominoes that follow could leave a few others to follow – all, of course, driven by the pursuit of more dollars
awesome video – HUGE weekend for SWIMMING!!!
any time trials today?
I’ll reach out and see. It’s possible that there will be some held in the break between relays.
They had some.
