The 2022 Duel in the Pool is finally upon us. A team from the United States and a team from Australia are set to go head-to-head in a 3-day battle in Sydney, Australia. The meet will begin on the morning of Friday, August 19 in Australia (or Thursday night in North America). The first session is open water and then on Saturday and Sunday the pool swimmers will race, starting at 7 pm local (5:00 am Eastern)

The Duel in the Pool will feature several traditional swimming events such as the stroke 50 and 100s, but there will also be a series of non-traditional events including skins races, broken freestyle, mystery IM, and more. For a breakdown of what we know so far about the events and a full breakdown of the American and Australian rosters, check out this article.

The lineup of elite swimmers racing a mix of conventional and unconventional events will be sure to make for an exciting viewing experience. Both USA Swimming and Swimming Australia have provided streaming info for how Americans and Australians can tune into the action.

While the Australian link is only available to those in Australia, the link available on USA Swimming’s site will provide access to those in every country other than Australia. That means that regardless of where in the world you are, you’ll be able to watch live.

As always, check back in on SwimSwam as the meet unfolds for live recaps, analysis posts, and scoring breakdowns as we find out who will come out on top at the 2022 Duel in the Pool.

I’m in the UK and I can’t access the stream through USA. It just takes my email and that’s it.

I mostly find myself hating the mickey-mouse events but, of course, I’ll be watching.

Oh just read on swimming Australia Instagram “recap of the open water relay will be on 7+ app in Saturday’s broadcast at 7pm local” ….. Thanks for thinking of the open water fans that can’t be on Bondi to watch it live, channel 7…. although I would prefer to watch Livestream rather than a recap in tomorrow’s broadcast. Still better than nothing I suppose.

Spoiler alert, turn away if you want to wait for the stream to see the results……

USA went MMFF while the Aussies went FFMM but it was the Aussies that owned the Bondi course in the end. Great way to start proceedings as far as the Aussies are concerned. 🇦🇺>🇺🇲😉

USA swimming said score is 8-6 in favour of Australia. I’d love to know more details – how much did the Aussies win by?

Sorry, details scarce and I only heard it through the grapevine as I wasn’t on the beach. Can’t help with detailed breakdown or splits at this point in time….

Apparently we can’t watch the open water relay. For an organization whose CEO supposedly came from a marketing background, USA Swimming is sure dropping the ball on promoting Duel in the Pool. There wasn’t a word about it on their website until 36 hours ago, and now we can’t watch the one session that’s at a reasonable hour for people in the US.

Thank you!
USA Swimming is one of the greater impediments to actually ENJOYING LIVE OR STREAMED swimming events.

Block all other countries. Just dumb. Stay an intramural sport

Seems like it was just some unclear wording in the original press release. The USA Swimming stream will work in all countries other than Australia. So all will be able to watch.

Does the US link allow you to watch the whole thing a few hours after the fact, or do I have to wake up at 4AM central to watch it live?

Like Australians have to for most international events. You’ll cope 😁

The timing is fine other than it conflicts with morning session of European Track and Field Championships

It will only clash with the road walks today as that is the final morning session.
