Houston Sweeps Weekly AAC Awards

For the second time this season the University of Houston Swimming & Diving team swept The American Athletic Conference weekly awards. Zarena Brown was tabbed Swimmer of the Week and Micaela Bouter earned Diver of the Week honors.

Zarena Brown delivered three dominate individual performances last weekend against Arkansas and Vanderbilt, while helping the Cougars to a first-place finish in the 400 Medley Relay. Brown posted her best dual meet performance in the 100 Freestyle, posting a time of 51.41 for first-place. In the 200 Freestyle, the sophomore finished in first-place with a finishing time of 1:50.49. In her final individual race, the 500 Freestyle, Brown touched the wall in 4:56.54 for top honors. To go along with her individual performances, Brown anchored the Cougars to a first-place finish in the 400 Medley Relay with a total time of 3:45.24. The award marks Brown’s second weekly honor of her career.

Senior Diver Micaela Bouter turned in a team-best third-place finish in the 1-Meter Springboard after posting 291.15 points. In the 3-Meter, Bouter continued to have a solid weekend against Arkansas and Vanderbilt, finishing second-overall in the event with 325.95 points. This marks Bouter’s eleventh weekly honor at Houston.

UP NEXT

Houston will return to action Friday and Saturday at the CRWC when it host LSU, Tulane and Rice. Events are slated to start at 5 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. on Saturday.
