Hosszu out of the 400 freestyle final

With the start lists for the finals now set it appears that World Cup Series Champion Katinka Hosszu will not be swimming in the 400 freestyle final.

The Hungarian who won the 200 butterfly earlier in the event was the top qualifier after this mornings preliminaries. It looks like Hosszu will still be swimming in the final of the 100 IM.

Her absence in the 400 freestyle will allow Great Britain’s Jazmin Carlin to compete in the final.

Carlin who made a big mistake in her morning swim commented on the situation on her twitter feed, “I’m such an idiot.. Lost count this morning racing my 400m! But I am soo lucky to be in that final tonight… Can’t wait to get stuck in!”
