PENSACOLA, Fla. – The 2015-16 schedule has been confirmed for the University of West Florida women’s swimming and diving team, it was announced by head coach Andrew Hancock.
“One of the ways we build on our program’s early success is to continue to challenge ourselves,” Hancock said. “I feel that this schedule will accomplish that goal.”
West Florida will open the season at home on October 16-17 at the UWF Aquatic Center by facing a trio of Division-I opponents including Tulane, Arkansas Little Rock and Air Force.
The Argonauts will then travel to the team’s first invitational meet of the season in Sewanee, Tennessee at the Sewanee Invitational hosted by the University of the South on October 30-31.
West Florida will then head to Tallahassee, Florida to face Florida State, Florida Gulf Coast and Florida Southern on November 6-7. Florida State and Florida Gulf Coast both finished in the top 30 at the 2015 NCAA DI National Championships with Florida Southern finishing 14th at the 2015 NCAA DII National Championships.
UWF will compete in the FIT Invitational hosted by Florida Tech on November 19-22 in Melbourne, Florida. The West Florida diving squad will also compete at the Emory Diving Invitational on Saturday, November 21 in Atlanta, Georgia.
West Florida will play host to the UWF Holiday Invite on Saturday, January 2 at 11 a.m. CT before hosting Birmingham Southern and Southwestern on Friday, January 8 at 3 p.m. CT at the UWF Aquatic Center.
The Argos will travel to Cleveland, Mississippi on Friday, January 15 to face Delta State and Henderson State for the team’s final regular season road trip. DSU finished 9th at the 2015 NCAA DII National Championships and third behind UWF and St. Cloud State at the 2015 NSISC Championships.
UWF will then play host to Delta State and Emory on Saturday, January 23 at 11 a.m. CT at the UWF Aquatic Center.
West Florida will compete in the 2016 New South Intercollegiate Swimming Conference Championships on February 17-20 in Cleveland, Mississippi. The 2016 NCAA DII Diving Qualifier will take place on Tuesday, March 8 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
The 2016 NCAA DII National Championships will also be in Indianapolis, Indiana and will take place on March 9-12.
