Air Force cadet Hailey Lane will return home from the hospital this week, more than a month after suffering a major heart attack, according to a Virginia CBS affiliate.
Lane was a longtime swimmer, first for NOVA of Virginia and then for the Air Force Academy during her freshman year. She was at home during her sophomore year’s spring break in March when she suffered a massive heart attack while working out.
She was without a pulse for more than 20 minutes before her heart was restarted at the hospital, where she would stay for the entire month of April.
But now, Lane appears set to return home, as CBS6 reports that she will be released from the hospital on Wednesday.
Friends, family and swim teams across the nation poured out support for lane using the banner of “Hailey Strong,” as Lane battled kidney failure and eventually moved off of life support as her heart began to recover. Supporters wrote the message “We Are Hailey Strong” on yellow signs – Lane’s favorite color.

Thanks for the update! All of us here at Navy are keeping you in our prayers Hailey!
