Turkish Swimming Championships Day 5

The Turkish Swimming Championships wrapped up today, and Turkish star Viktoria Zeynep Gunes won all of the events at the meet in which she was entered. She had previously won both the 200 and 400 IM and the 50 and 100 breast, and today solidified the streak with a win in the 200 breast (2:27.56). Gulsen Beste Samanci came in second in the event by almost 5 seconds in a time of 2:32.10.
Ekaterina Ivanova Avramova almost swept the backstroke events today with a win in the 100 back (1:01.10). 2nd place went to Zulal Zeren (1:02.89), with a distant 3rd place finish by Ilayada Kargin (1:04.94). Avramova also won the 50 back, but failed to win the 200, where she finished 2nd.
The women’s 400 free was won by Buse Topcu (4:21.68) with a close finish by 15 year-old Defne Kurt (4:21.77). The current record holder, Merve Eroglu, came in 3rd in a time of 4:22.69.
Current National Record holder Nezir Karap won the 400 free (3:53.58), followed in 2nd by Kaan Ozcan (3:57.91).
The men’s 100 back saw Ege Baser win the event in a time of 55.66. Doruk Tekin came in 2nd (56.08), followed closely by Metin Aydin (56.30). Alpkan Ornek came close to his own National Record in the 200 breast with a time of 2:15.18. Ornek out-touched Berkay Sendikici (2:15.26), and Oktaycan Emirbayer came in 3rd by over 3 seconds (2:18.93).
The women’s 50 free was won by Nihan Cakici (25.84), with Zeynep Tuncay coming in 2nd (26.62). On the men’s side, Emre Sakci took the event, finishing in a time of 22.84, just beating out Kemal Arda Gurdal (22.89).
