Greg Winslow Added to USA Swimming Banned For Life List

Former University of Utah swim coach Greg Winslow has been added to the USA Swimming list of Individuals Permanently Suspended or Ineligible as of February 12, 2014 for violating Code of Conduct sections 304.3.5 and 304.3.15.

The specific language of the violations, per USA Swimming’s Code of Conduct Rule Book:

304.3.5 Any sexual contact or advance or other inappropriate sexually oriented behavior or action directed towards an athlete by a coach, official, trainer, or other person who, in the context of swimming, is in a position of authority over that athlete.

304.3.15 Any other act, conduct or omission not provided for above, which is detrimental to the image or reputation of USA Swimming, a LSC or the sport of swimming.

Winslow was in his sixth season as the head coach at Utah last winter when he was suspended just before the 2013 Pac-12 Championships following sexual abuse allegations from a former swimmer in Arizona.  No charges were filed in the case, although he was hit with additional significant accusations during the investigation.  Last December, ESPN’s Outside the Lines featured an investigative report of the story.

Prior to his stint at Utah, Winslow was the head coach at Sun Devil Aquatics, which has recently merged with Mesa Aquatics Club, for two years beginning in August 2005.
