Andrew Greenhalgh of Johns Hopkins just successfully reset the record books in the men’s 500 freestyle in the finals of the Division III NCAA Championships. The previous record was set in 2012 by Al Weik of Denison at 4:21.79. In finals, Greenhalgh clocked a 4:20.30. Runner up Arthur Conover of Kenyon also slipped under the old mark, posting a 4:20.95 to claim second place.

Congrats to both Greenhalgh and Conover! As a Mainer I was rooting for Conover, but as a former Blue Jay I was rooting for Greenhalgh. Something tells me that the tables might be turned in the 1650.
