Glen Brown from Fishers, Indiana, has committed to the University of Kentucky. The senior at Fishers High School is set to join the Wildcats next fall. Brown, the two-time finalist at the 2014-15 Indiana Boys State Championships, placed third in the 500-yard freestyle (4:28.66) and fourth in the 200-yard freestyle (1:39.64). These results are a big improvement from his eighth place finish in the 200-yard freestyle (1:41.70) at the 2013-14 State Champs.
Brown’s best 500-yard freestyle time qualifies him for USA Winter Nationals and his 1650-yard freestyle, 200-yard freestyle, 100-yard backstroke, 200-yard breaststroke, 200-yard IM and 400-yard IM best times also qualify him for USA Winter Juniors this December.
Brown’s best times are as follows:
- 200-yard freestyle: 1:39.64
- 500-yard freestyle: 4:28.66
- 1650-yard freestyle: 15:41.79
- 100-yard backstroke: 50.91
- 200-yard breaststroke: 2:05.67
- 200-yard IM: 1:51.53
- 400-yard IM: 3:55.80
Brown, who also swims for Fishers Area Swimming Tigers, will be a good addition to the Wildcats next season, swimming under head coach Lars Jorgensen. Brown will have the benefits of training first hand as well as learning from Issac Jones who placed fourth as a freshman last season at the SEC Championships in the 500-yard freestyle last spring. Brown has had a steady progression in the 500-yard freestyle over the last year, dropping 10 seconds since 2014 and if this progression continues he will make an impact at the SEC championships.
