THE FLATS – Georgia Tech swimming and diving kicked off its efforts to support charitable causes fighting cancer as they took part in the Swim Across America – Atlanta Open Water Swim at Lake Lanier on Saturday, Oct. 2. The Jackets participated in the 5K, 1-mile and half-mile races.

Georgia Tech’s student-athletes raised a total of $11,521 as of Saturday benefiting children’s hospitals in the Atlanta area. This brings the three-year total to more than $20,000, thanks in large part to the generosity of Jacket Nation.

In addition to already setting a personal team record for funds raised at Swim Across America, donations can still be submitted by clicking the button for the team page at the top of the article or by clicking HERE. Donations will be accepted through Nov. 2.

The Yellow Jackets will continue to raise funds and awareness for cancer treatment and research by hosting its annual Pink Meet on Oct. 23 against Florida State. The first 200 fans in attendance will be given a pink Georgia Tech shirt to commemorate Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
