Four divers have signed national letters of intent to join the Georgia program, according to an announcement Monday by Coach Dan Laak.
Georgia natives Ellie Crump, Kelliann Howell, and Addison Kelly, and Floridian Hudson Coldren will arrive in Athens as freshmen to start the 2018-19 season.
“These four divers will bring us a lot of depth and a lot of spirit,” Laak said. “I am really looking forward to working with them next year and beyond. They are all hard workers and have a lot of talent. The sky’s the limit for each of them.”
Crump is a native of Dunwoody. She attends The Marist School and competes for Coach Amanda Miller in the Atlanta Diving Association. She is a National Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association All-American and is a two-time Georgia High School Association state runner-up on the 1-meter springboard.
Howell attends Colquitt County High School and is another UGA signee from Moss Farms Diving in Moultrie. She dives under coaches Chris Heaton and John Fox. Howell won the state championship on 1-meter in 2016 and is a three-time state finalist in that event.
Kelly attends Jefferson High School and trains in Athens for Coach Jonathan Fennelly with the Georgia Diving Club. Kelly is a two-time state finalist on 1-meter. She is an AAU All-American and she recorded four top-10 finishes at the 2017 Nationals.
Coldren hails from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., where he attends Cardinal Gibbons High School and dives for Coach Janet Gabriel at Pine Crest. Coldren finished second in the state meet in 2017 and third in both 2015 and 2016. He is a qualifier for both the USA Junior National Championships and the USA Diving National Zone B Championships.
