GBR’s Freya Rayner Adds 7th Verbal Commitment for Ohio State Women

British sprinter Freya Rayner has made a verbal commitment to The Ohio State University, adding her name to an impressive list of future members of the Buckeyes’ class of 2021.

“To me Ohio State is a team on the rise, improving every year. As soon as I set foot on campus and met the swimming and academic team, I felt an instant connection and can’t thank my hosts enough for making me feel at home. I am excited to work with Coach Bill and Coach Jordan, I believe in becoming a Buckeye I will grow as an athlete and as a person.

“I can’t wait to start crossing off all the M’s!

“Go Bucks.”

Rayner swims in the U.K. for City of Sunderland under coach Danny Thompson. She currently sits in the top ten in freestyle, backstroke and butterfly for her age, and in the top ten in the open division for the 50 freestyle (25.67 LCM). Rayner is the second-fastest 16-year-old in British history for the 50 freestyle SCM (25.03).

Rayner earned a silver and a bronze at the 2016 British Summer Championships at the end of July, adding to her haul from each of the previous two years.
