Gabriella Fagan of Scottsdale Aquatic Club Verbally Commits to Utah

Gabriella Fagan of Scottsdale Aquatic Club and Chaparral High School (Scottsdale, Arizona) has verbally committed to swim at the University of Utah in 2017-18. Fagan is a two-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American who specializes in sprint free/fly and IM.

At the 2015 Arizona High School Division 1 Swim and Dive Championships, she placed third in both the 50 free and 100 free, and helped Chaparral win the 200 and 400 free relays. The Chaparral 400 free relay broke the Arizona high school state record, so now Fagan’s name is in the record-books twice: she was also part of the Chaparral quartet that broke the 4×50 record in 2014.

At the Western Zone Sectionals in the spring of 2016, Fagan placed 6th in the 50 free and helped lead four of the SAC relays to top-3 finishes. At the 2016 Speedo Sectionals at Gresham, she placed in the top 8 in the 100 free and helped her relay teams win the 200 and 800 free relays, and place third in the 400 free and medley relays. At the 2015 Speedo Short Course Junior Nationals, her 200 free relay team finished in the top 8.

Fagan holds Winter Junior Nationals cuts in the 50 free and 100 free. Her top times are:

  • 50 Free – 23.94 SC/ 26.70 LC
  • 100 Free – 52.02 SC/ 58.25 LC
  • 200 Free – 1:54.16 SC/ 2:07.89 LC
  • 100 Fly – 57.55 SC/ 1:05.23 LC
  • 200 IM – 2:06.19 SC/ 2:26.86 LC

“I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim at the University of Utah for the next four years! I felt like a part of the family on my trip, and easily envisioned myself on the team. I cannot wait to spend my college years at a school where I can succeed both academically and athletically! I would like to thank my family, coaches, and friends/teammates for helping me get to where I am today! Go Utes!”

Fagan will join Sara McClendon, who has also verbally committed to the University of Utah’s class of 2021.
