I am BEYOND excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Old Dominion University! I want to thank my parents, coaches, teammates, and friends for helping me along the way. Reign On🦁”

Thomas competes for Quest Swimming out of Midlothian, VA. Over the summer, he earned numerous long course best times at the Virginia Senior Championships. Those times included the 100 (56.37) and 200 (2:00.30) freestyles, 200 backstroke (2:10.20), and 200 (2:18.51) and 400 (4:52.42) IMs. His 100 and 200 backstrokers also earned him the Futures cut long course as he earned both short course yards in March 2020.

He continued his success and earned multiple best times in December at the TAC Titans Blizzard Blitz. Those times included the 100 (48.74) and 200 (1:43.96) freestyles, 100 butterfly (53.29), 200 (1:57.09) and 400 (4:08.20) IMs.

Thomas graduated from Cosby High School in 2021 and was originally committed to play football at Blue Mountain State University.

His best short course yards times are:

  • 100 backstroke: 51.73
  • 200 backstroke: 1:52.43
  • 200 freestyle: 1:43.96
  • 400 IM: 4:08.20

Old Dominion University is a public university located in Norfolk, Virginia. The ODU men are members of the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA).

The men finished fourth out of four teams at the 2021 CCSA Championships. They were only 36 points behind third place Bellarmine. Based on his best times, Thomas has the potential to make an immediate impact at the conference level. His times would have earned him a spot in the ‘A’ final of the 100 and 200 backstrokes as well as a spot in the ‘B’ final of the 200 freestyle and 400 IM.

Thomas will have one year overlap with the team’s top 200 backstroker so far this season, Jacob Cobb. Thomas will arrive on campus in fall 2022 as a member of the class of 2026 along with distance freestyler Grey Bremer, breaststroker Bryce Mortimer, and sprint freestyler Brice Lounds.
