Here are some more fun facts from day 5 at the 2015 World Championships

• With his win in the 200 IM, Ryan Lochte has won that event the most times of anyone at the World Championships, breaking the tie he had with Michael Phelps who won three
• Lochte’s win also keeps the United States streak in the event alive, as they haven’t lost since 2001 – where Italian Massimilliano Rosolino topped American Tom Wilkens
• Lochte has also medaled in the event now at six consecutive championships
• Lochte’s 4 wins in a row also breaks the record he previously shared with Phelps who won his 3 titles in a row
• Lochte wins his 1st medal of these championships and 24th of his career, only Phelps (33) has more
• With his 3rd career World Championship medal, Thiago Pereira now only trails Cesar Cielo (6) for most medals won by a South American swimmer at the World Championships
• With his bronze medal in the 200 IM, Wang Shun wins the first individual medley medal won by any Chinese male at the World Championships
• The United States has won the men’s 100 freestyle a record six times, but hasn’t done so since Anthony Ervin did in 2001
• Ning Zetao‘s gold medal in the 100 freestyle marks the first time a Chinese male has won a medal in either the 50m or 100m freestyle. Sun Yang was the first ever Chinese male to win a medal in the 200m free earlier in these championships
• Zetao also became the first ever Asian swimmer to win the men’s 100 freestyle
• Federico Grabich won bronze in the 100 freestyle, marking the first time ever someone from Argentina has won a swimming medal at the World Championships (excluding open water)
• Natsumi Hoshi‘s gold medal in the 200 butterfly marks Japan’s first ever gold medal in any women’s event at the World Championships
• Zhang Yufei‘s bronze medal gives China four consecutive medals in the women’s 200 fly
• Cammile Adams silver medal in the 200 fly is USA’s 200th medal at the World Championships in women’s events
• Etiene Medeiros‘ silver medal in the 50 backstroke marks the first ever swimming medal for any South American female
• The United States has now won gold at 6 of the last 7 World Championships in the women’s 4x200m freestyle relay, with only China breaking the streak in 2009
• The United States has now won the women’s 4×200 free relay at three consecutive championships, matching the mark they set from 2003-2007
• Missy Franklin equals Katie Hoff‘s record of three gold medals in the women’s 4x200m free relay
