Full Rundown of USA Swimming Developmental Camps for 2014

USA Swimming has released the full brochure of the developmental and select camps that are available to its members in 2014.

These camps are a significant first step for swimmers with National or International level dreams. It allows them to network with other top swimmers, get specialized and highly-technical training, and to learn more about what it’s like to be a part of the most successful swim team in the world.

The National Select Camp will be expanded by a few spots this season. Last year, only 60 swimmers were invited. This year, the top two males and females in each event, plus the 4 best IMX scorers of 14-15 year old females and 15-16 year old males will be invited, for 32 males and 32 females. Once an athlete has attended a National Select Camp, they’re not eligible to attend again.

Zone Select Camps, which is for 12-13 girls and 13-14 boys,  will be held in each of the four zones. It will be eight girls who are 12 and seven girls who are 13; plus eight boys who are 13, and seven boys who are 14, for 28 from each zone.

The diversity select camp for 2014 will be held at the US Olympic Training Center from May 1-4, with the criteria that they represent an “ethnically underrepresented population that is less than 10% of the current USA Swimming membership.”
