French Artist Aya Nakamura Ignites Olympic Opening Ceremonies In Gold Outfit

2024 PARIS SUMMER OLYMPIC GAMES

French-Malian artist Aya Nakamura made her presence felt during the Opening Ceremonies of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

Nakamura, whose real name is Aya Danioko, made a grand entrance on the Pont des Arts alongside the orchestra of the French Republican Guard, and was joined by 36 choristers from the French Army.

Nakamura started out by singing two of her top hits, “Pookie” and “Djadja,” and followed by performing Charles Aznavour‘s “For Me Formidable” and “La Boheme.”

The Pont des Arts is a bridge linking the Institut de France to the Louvre Mueseum.

Nakamura is a French-Malian singer-songwriter who released her first single at the age of 19 in 2014, and has steadily grown in popularity over the past decade.

In 2019, the first two songs she sang at the Opening Ceremonies, “Pookie” and “Djada” receiving Platinum status in Italy (double Platinum) and Spain, respectively.

Nakamura was preceded by American artist Lady Gaga, who kicked the Ceremonies off.
