Arizona high school state champion and All-Big 12 swimmer Devin Geordon Price has died at age 32, according to social media posts from his family.
According to a GoFundMe started to support his wife and two children, Price died on June 30th, “suddenly and tragically”.
Price swam collegiately at TCU from 2009 through 2013. He was named to the All-Mountain West team in two relays in 2011, First-Team Academic All-Big 12 as a senior in 2013, and Second-Team All-Big 12 in the 100 free as a senior in 2013 after placing 6th at the Big 12 Championships.
During his senior season, he also won the TCU Most Valuable Team Contributor Award.
Prior to TCU, Price was a four-time Arizona High School State Champion for Palo Verde High School. He won the 100 free as a senior, the 100 back as a sophomore and a junior, and swam a leg of the state’s fastest 200 free relay squad during his junior season of high school.
Price graduated from TCU in 2013 with a degree in criminal justice and corrections.
Social media posts poured out onto his Facebook page remembering Price’s kindness and humor, among other traits.
The family is planning a celebration of life August 18, 4 to 8 p.m. at the Catalina Terrace Pool (2440 E. Hedrick Drive, Tucson, AZ. 85719). They are asking people to wear University of Arizona or TCU clothing, or the color blue.
“We’ll be able to celebrate his birthday as well during that time so please come share your happiest and fun/funny stories of my husband,” his wife Ashley posted on his Facebook page.” The kids and I can not wait to meet more people who loved him and knew him throughout different times in his life. So please come and enjoy the celebration of my amazing husband, father, son, Grandson, brother, cousin and friend.”
I had the pleasure of coaching Devin during HS when I was coaching at Tucson Ford Aquatics. He was a hard working, passionate, and above all a wonderful person. He made the practices more enjoyable and added to our team culture in a very positive way. This is very sad news and my prayers go out to his family. RIP Devin.
Geordon coached my kids for awhile when they were on a swim team in Tucson. He was a great guy. Very patient and supportive with my kids and all of the other kids on the team. Much love and respect to his family. Geordon was a good man.
Very sad, Rest in Peace
My heart breaks for his family, but especially his wife and kids. Didn’t know him, but his kids not getting to grow up with their awesome dad makes me so so sad.
Devin was a Great Husband, Father, Son, Horned Frog Swimmer, and Friend. He will be remembered and missed.
