Florida State Hits The Road For Matchup At Auburn On Wednesday

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.  –  The Florida State swimming and diving teams will hit the road for a top 25 contest against Auburn on Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the James E. Martin Aquatics Center.

“We’re excited to get back to racing again,” FSU head coach Neal Studd said. “It’s good for us to get indoors as we prepare for ACCs against a very good SEC opponent.”

The Meet

The dual will feature 16-events, including the 100s and 200s of each stroke in addition to the 50 free, 500 free, 1000 free, 400 IM and the 200 medley and 400 free relays.

Both 1-meter and 3-meter diving will run simultaneously to swimming.

Live timing will be available.

The Series

The men are seeking its first program win against the Tigers (0-18), while the women are 3-14 all-time. The last victory against Auburn was a close 77-63 decision on Nov. 18, 1983.

On the Tigers

Auburn has faced Georgia and Georgia Tech this season.

The women fell to the Bulldogs 125-173, and defeated the Yellow Jackets 178-81.

The men’s team lost to top-ranked Georgia 118-177, but defeated No. 17 Georgia Tech 145-117.

Both teams also placed second at the Auburn Fall Invite behind No. 5/10 Florida.

The Last Time Out

Both teams were victorious against Gardner-Webb. The women won 226-48 (2-1-1), while the men defeated the Bulldogs 188-90, to move to 4-0 on the season.

The women were victorious in 13 events, all of which were sweeps. Both freshman Sydney Cole and junior Hannah Womer led the team with two individual victories each. Cole claimed the 1000 free (10:36.14) and 200 back (2:06.76), while Womer won the 200 free (1:51.46) and 100 breast

Freshman Mason Herbet and sophomore Nick Vance added two wins each on Saturday. Herbet took the 200 free (1:41.17) and 100 free (45.62) while Vance won the 200 breast (2:04.38) and 100 fly (49.38).

So Auburn had to pull out of a meet on Friday against Alabama due to covid positives from last Monday but are already back on Wednesday? Are those who were positive back out of quarantine already?

There are specific guidelines that must be followed so yes.
