Florida 2A State Champion Sara Stotler Verbally Commits to Tennessee Swimming

Fitter and Faster Swim Clinics is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Florida high school state champion swimmer Sara Stotler has verbally committed to the University of Tennessee. A current high school junior, Stotler will arrive in Knoxville in the fall of 2021.

In the fall of 2018, as a sophomore, Stotler won the women’s 100 fly at the Florida 2A* State Championship in a time of 54.82. In the fall of 2019, as a junior, she swam half-a-second faster, in 54.35, but took 2nd in the race. She also placed 2nd this season in the 200 IM in 2:02.09. In total, she has 5 individual top-3 finishes at the 2A State Championship (she was DQ’ed in the 200 IM as a sophomore).

*Note: In Florida, 2A is the classification for the state’s 2nd-smallest group of schools. 1A is made up primarily of private schools, while 4A includes the state’s biggest high schools.

Stotler swims for Clay High School, which is the same high school that World and Olympic champion Caeleb Dressel attended.

While she’s swum the same 2 races at each of the last 3 Florida High School State Championship meets, in club swimming she’s been able to show off her 4-stroke versatility that should make her a top-tier IMer at the collegiate level. She trains with Planet Swim Aquatics in USA Swimming competition.

Best Times in Yards:

  • 200 fly – 1:59.42
  • 200 IM – 2:02.09

Stotler is also a very good long course swimmer – her best time of 1:01.21 in the 100 fly is just half-a-second away from the Olympic Trials standard.

She’ll be joining a Tennessee team that includes among its swimmers Erika Brown, who has the fastest time in NCAA competition in the 100 yard fly this season.
