FIU’s Miranda, Foord Earn Conference USA Weekly Honors

DALLAS – FIU senior Julia Miranda posted six first place showings, three individual and three as part of relays, to lead the Panthers to dual meet victories over Illinois and Miami to earn the C-USA Swimmer of the Week award.  FIU junior Rachel Foord earned first place with a season-high score in the 3-meter and notched three NCAA Zone Qualifying scores to earn C-USA Diver of the Week honors.  All C-USA weekly awards are presented by Top of the World Headwear.

SWIMMER OF THE WEEK
Julia Miranda, FIU, Sr.,Rio De Janeiro, Brazil
Miranda posted six first place showings, three individual and three as part of relays, to lead the Panthers to a dual meet victories over Illinois and Miami.  She took the number one spot in the 100 back with her time of 56.55, finished first in the 200 back with a time of 2:02.92 and was first against Miami in the 50 back at 26.55.  Miranda led off the first place 200 Medley (1:44.52) and 400 Medley Relays (3:45.69) and closed out the 400 Free relay that finished first (3:27.06).  All three relay times are the best mark in C-USA this season.

DIVER OF THE WEEK
Rachel Foord, FIU, Jr., Melbourne, Australia
From the 3-meter board, Foord took first with a season-high score of 330.30 in a meet against Illinois and Miami.  In the 1-meter, she notched a score of 280.55, which placed third.  On the 10-meter platform, Foord also took third place at 231.20.  All three of her showings were NCAA Zone Qualifying scores.
