The LEN Open Water Cup kicks off at its traditional venue, Eilat at the Red Sea. More than 80 swimmers will line up to the start on Sunday.
Though many entries had to be withdrawn due to the measures taken because of the corona virus outbreak, still more than 80 swimmers will take part in the fist leg of the LEN Open Water Cup. As it’s become a tradition, the series kick off in Israel, the city of Eilat at the Red Sea.
Since the French are among those who had to stay away, new champions shall be crowned this year – last March the Gauls took five out of the six medals on offer, Lara Grangeon and world champion Marc-Antoine Olivier were the respective winners. Despite their absence, a couple of great stars highlight the start lists like former European champion Kirill Abrosimov and world and European runner-up Evgeny Drattsev, both from Russia, and Britain’s European silver medallist Jack Burnell.
The prize money pot for the opening leg is 10.000 Euros, the 10km races kick off at 8.30AM on Sunday.
