FDU-Florham Women, Saint Peter’s Men Earn Wins In Split Dual

Jersey City, N.J (January 13) – After suffering their first dual meet defeat of the season yesterday, the FDU-Florham women’s swimming team (6-1) bounced back and delivered a 123-71 win at Division I Saint Peter’s on Saturday afternoon.

The Devils were once again led by Sarah Dougherty (Kinnelon, N.J.) who individually picked up a pair of first-place finishes in the meet. She placed first and bested her seed time in both the 100 fly when she clocked a 1:02.16 and in the 100 back with a time of 1:01.26.

Magda Konopka (Paramus, N.J.) saw a personal-best time when she touched the wall first in the 500 free with a time of 5:41.45. She also placed second in the 200 IM with a time of 2:18.78.

Lauren Stone (Middletown, N.J.) also individually picked up a victory when she outswam the competition in the 50 free with a time of 27.30. Stone also individually competed in the 100 breast and finished fourth with a time of 1:19.53

Julianna Fazzio (Glassboro, N.J.), Jessica Mooney (Cranford, N.J.) and Katelyn Plank (Bridgewater, N.J.) each placed second in an individual event. Fazzio touched the wall second in the 100 breast (1:15.53), Mooney in the 50 free (27.90) and Plank in the 100 free (56.40). Fazzio also individually finished third in the 100 free (58.27) while Mooney and Plank each picked up a fourth-place finish with Mooney in the 100 free (1:01.71) and Plank in the 200 IM (2:35.10).

The Devils also had a great showing in the three relay events during the meet. The squad of Dougherty, Riley Signor (Melody, Pa.), Fazzio and Ashley Smith (Tinton Falls, N.J.) took first with a time of 1:57.82 and was followed by the team of Mooney, Konopka, Plank and Stone who finished second with a time of 2:00.72. In the 200 free relay, the quartet of Stone, Plank, Fazzio and Smith placed first when they clocked a 1:46.06. In the 400 free relay, the team of Dougherty, Konopka, Signor and Mooney touched the wall first with a group time of 4:06.10 while the squad consisting of Brynn Kelly (Pequannock, N.J.), Isabel Thierman (Belmar, N.J.), Naia McGinn (Point Pleasant Borough, N.J.) and Abigail Franco (New Providence, N.J.) placed third with a team time of 4:54.92.

FDU-Florham will play host to fellow MAC school Stevenson on Thursday, January 18 for a 1:00pm dual meet.

Jersey City, N.J. (January 13) – The FDU-Florham men’s swimming team (2-5) fell on the road in dual meet action against Division I Saint Peter’s, 146-44 on Saturday afternoon.

Despite the team loss, James Dougherty (Kinnelon, N.J.) had a good showing in the meet as he placed first in two events. He touched the wall first in the 200 IM with a time of 2:04.87 and in the 100 free with a time of 53.71.

Michael Bang (Roxbury, N.J.) individually placed third both the 100 fly (57.29) and the 100 breast (1:04.82) while AJ Vicidomini (Howell, N.J.) saw a third-place finish in the 50 free (25.13) and a pair of fourth place finishes in both the 100 fly (1:00.53) and the 100 breast (1:12.47)

Edward Danza placed fifth in the 100 free when he clocked a 1:04.79 and placed sixth in the 100 fly with a time of 1:05.93.

All four swimmers teamed up for three relay events in the meet where the quartet finished second place in each one. In the 200 medley, the group finished with a combined time of 1:48.16. In the 200 free relay, the team clocked a time 1:33.77 and in the 400 free relay, the quartet clocked a 3:46.79.

FDU-Florham will play host to fellow MAC school Stevenson on Thursday, January 18 for a 1:00pm dual meet.

Jersey City, N.J.- The Saint Peter’s University Swimming & Diving team hosted the FDU-Florham Devils at the Eugene and Teresa Imperatore Swimming & Diving Center on Saturday.

Meet Notes

  •  The men’s team earned a 146-44 victory over FDU-Florham.
  •  The women’s team fell to FDU-Florham, 123-71.
  •  It was a successful day for both Saint Peter’s sides.
  •  Saint Peter’s started the meet off the right way with a first-place finish in the men’s 200-yard medley relay race. Evan BriggsVladimir PetrasTristan Raso, and Austin Arnold led the way in that heat.
  • Cassidy Mulligan came out on top in the women’s 200-yard freestyle heat with a 2:13:32 finals time.
  • Dean Lliguicota placed first in the men’s 200-yard freestyle heat. He was followed up by Daniel Sanchez and D’Vonte Washburn in second and third place, respectively.
  • In the Women’s 200-yard IM, Erin Dall’Agnol was the top finisher in the heat with a time of 2:18.09.
  • For Saint Peter’s, Arnold won two heats, the men’s 50-yard freestyle and the 500-yard freestyle.
  • Last season, Saint Peter’s defeated FDU in a head-to-head matchup, 114-36, on Jan. 7, 2023.
  • Saturday’s meet was the second all-time meeting between the two programs. Saint Peter’s is now 2-0 against FDU-Florham.
  • For FDU, the Devils have been active competing in meets on back-to-back days. On Friday, the Devils went up against Arcadia University and visited Saint Peter’s on Saturday.
