FAST’s Isaac Stump Sends Verbal Commitment to Arizona Wildcats

Isaac Stump of the Flying Fish Arizona Swim Team has joined the University of Arizona class of 2021.

“I chose Arizona because I had a strong and instant connection with the team and they made me feel right at home. With Arizona‘s exceptional swim team and academics, I knew I wanted to be a Wildcat! Bear Down!”

TOP TIMES

*SCY unless otherwise noted*

  • 200 free – 1:42.02 (1:53.97 LCM)
  • 500 free – 4:32.13 (3:59.71 LCM)
  • 1650 free – 15:52.43 (16:05.86 LCM)
  • 200 back – 1:52.35
  • 200 IM – 1:55.41 (2:08.71 LCM)
  • 400 IM – 4:03.47 (4:33.98 LCM)

Stump’s SCY times don’t particularly jump out right away, but his big time drops over the summer suggest that he’ll find more to drop in yards this winter/spring. He dropped from 4:14 to 3:59 in the 400 free, and then 1:55.4 to 1:53.9 in the 200 free from 2015 to 2016.

Additionally, he lopped about five seconds off of his 200 IM and a whopping 12+ seconds in his 400 IM from summer ’15 to summer ’16.

It’s looking as though mid-distance free and IM will be Stump’s focus when he gets to Arizona. The Wildcat men have been off to a slow start with recruiting, though dynamic IM’er Sam Iida of Illinois will join Stump in the Wildcat class of 2021.
