Fabio Scozzoli Recovering Well From ACL Surgery

The Italian Swimming Federation is reporting that Italian star swimmer Fabio Scozzoli is recovering very well from the knee surgery that he underwent in mid-September.

After finishing fifth in the 100 breaststroke at the World Championships in Barcelona Scozzoli had to undergo surgery to repair his ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) in his right knee. Today he went in for a routine three week examination with Dr. Maurilio Marcacci, accompanied by his mother, Dr. Marco Bonifazi, and personal and national team physiotherapist Maurizio Solaroli.

Scozzoli came away from the examination with very good news, his knee rehabilitation is right on target. He had his stitches removed last week and tomorrow will return to the water to begin training with the restriction that he can not apply force with his legs.

It is predicted that his recovery will take another month and will return for another examination in three weeks.
