2018 ITALIAN NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

Fabio Scozzoli has been on a roll this week. After taking the 100 breast title and scaring the Italian record in that event, he posted a 26.73 in the 50 breast yesterday, taking just under two tenths off of his previous best of 26.91.

In the women’s 50 breast, Arianna Castiglioni swam to the win at 30.67 over Martina Carraro (30.93). In third place was Benedetta Pilato with a 31.82, a fantastic time for her– Pilato is just 13 years of age, so there is probably much more to come from her in the near future. At 13, Pilato is now the 7th-fastest 18& under performer in Italian history.

Gregorio Paltrinieri won the men’s 1500 by over ten seconds, touching at 14:50.35. That vaults him to 4th in the world this year.
