Kaitlin Kitchens, who swam for Indiana University during her first two years of college, will be transferring to swim at Georgia Tech next year.
“I’m really excited to be a part of the Georgia Tech swim team this fall and am looking forward to the opportunities that are ahead. I can’t wait to work with Andy Robins, Courtney Hart and the rest of the Georgia Tech team. IU was a great experience, but I’m happy to be back in Atlanta and close to home again.” said Kitchens on her move to Georgia Tech.
Kitchens is originally from Atlanta and swam for Dynamo Swim Club as a senior in high school before going on to swim for Indiana University.
Best times in yards:
- 50 free – 23.06
- 100 free – 49.84
- 200 free – 1:48.65
- 100 fly – 54.69
During her freshman year, Kitchens was taken to the Big Ten Championships where she placed 21st in the 100 fly (54.69) and 66th in the 50 free (23.75). That 100 fly swim remains her personal best, with the rest of the swims above coming at Indiana’s mid-season Hoosierland Invitational.
Her sophomore year included earning an Academic All-Big Ten honor and setting multiple personal best times. At the Big Ten Championships in 2016, Kitchens placed 18th in the 100 free with a time of 49.89. She also took 27th place in the 50 free (23.14) and 35th in the 100 fly (55.44).
Kitchens will be able to immediately contribute to the Yellow Jacket women, who didn’t qualify any swimmers for 2016 NCAA Championships. Her best times would’ve ranked her 2nd on the team last year in the 50 free, 100 free, and 100 fly.
