Emma Sticklen swam to new NCAA and NCAA meet records winning the 200 butterfly in a 1:49.11. That broke her own meet record of a 1:49.80 that she swam in this morning’s prelims session. She also broke Alex Walsh‘s NCAA record of a 1:49.16 that Walsh swam at the 2024 ACC Championships. The fifth year Sticklen defended her NCAA title after she won last year in a 1:50.99.

Sticklen was out under record pace tonight and held on. She was over half a second ahead of Walsh’s record pace at the 50 and over a second at the 100 mark.

There have only been 15 performances under the 1:50 mark and Sticklen holds over half of them. Her swims today bring her total up to nine. Alex Walsh and Regan Smith have been under 1:50 twice. Smith holds the American record at a 1:48.33.
