This article is proof that some salty commenters are manipulating the voting system lol. Since when does a 48 hour old article, which probably isn’t even a super popular article, suddenly result in multiple comments getting 30+ votes in only a couple of hours?
Some of these crazy commenters have clearly found a way to just repeatedly vote for their own comments. It’s pathetic.
Reapectful interview by Coleman of Miss McKeon.Congrats to her for getting through whatever the sacrifices and “ups and downs” were to which she refers but does not specify, other than occasional “hatred” of her sport. Given that Em’s coach Bohl was an early mentor to Dean Boxall, would have been interesting to ask if Bohl utilizes the same training methodology as Boxall, and vice versa. According to a July 29, 2021 article by Adrian Proszenko in the Sydney Morning Herald, ex-rugby coach and “performance consultant” of AUS Swimming Jeremy Hickmans (apparently approvingly) observed Mitch Larkin and Ariarne Titmus at an SPW practice “essentially at the end of the pool between reps…in the bushes vomiting” for “just” a “normal” half-hour part… Read more »
Wow, people never miss an opportunity to take a completely unrelated topic and turn it into a criticism of Dean Boxall. Do you people have nothing else going on in your lives?
And Katie Ledecky and Dressel has never vomited at training ? Hmmm . Me thinks you are delusional
Hey Australian SwSwam comment board monitors, you can bury your head in the sand all you want about what’s happening in AUS swimming and (overdue) investigations, but let me tell you–if an American swimmer were “vomiting in the bushes” 30 minutes a day as part of a “normal” practice and their coach/trainer were bragging about it approvingly to newspaper reporters–the coach/trainers would be out of their jobs rather quickly.
She looks to me like she could be Buster Posey’s little sister. Just saying.
Regarding grace and humility–it’s funny how winning changes one’s perspective on oneself and even alters others’ perspective, and how certain things are so quickly forgotten. I truly hope Emma has “grown” as she says to kind Coleman.

LOL. She literally just forgot to tell management she was staying overnight with friends. That’s it. She’s not Ryan Lochte lol. This is such a reach.
It was actually Emma’s Copacabana colleague Josh Palmer who played the role of AUS version of Lochte, getting “robbed at gunpoint.” Emma’s rule-breaking post-Rio was not as bad as Dawn Fraser’s in ’64, but let’s chill on the grace and humility stuff. Swim AUS has all sorts of cultural problems that have previously been swept under the rug but are now the subject of a (supposedly) independent investigation–abuse, weight-shaming, unusual behavior by coaches and athletes, bad Oly behavior, and strange training methods. Will the results of that investigation be a “reach” also? Guess we’ll see, and we’ll see if changes and daylight occur under new (female) leader who scratches her head to media as to why AUS swimming and its… Read more »
What strange training methods ???
Kilometres & 50m pools .
What’s any of this got to do with Emma?
What the ???
Yeah …… okay
I’m pretty sure Ryan Lochte played the role of Ryan Lochte in Brazil lol.
This is like the mad ravings of a stroke victim. None of this has anything to do with Emma. Me saying that bringing up one night from 5 years ago when she was 22 and forgot to tell mum she was staying at friend’s place is a “reach” has nothing to do with investigations into Swimming Australia. What are you talking about!?
Honestly it seems like you’re someone with a grudge against Aussies who snorted one too many lines before getting behind the keyboard lol.
Don’t think stroke victims lose their marbles , just their capacities for speech ( temporarily if they have time & help to build new pathways . )
Do you want swimmers to enter a convent or something? Since when have you been appointed the spokesperson for moral judgment ??
So, just to be clear, when you say “it’s funny how some things are so quickly forgotten”, you are referring to one night five years ago where she did nothing wrong except forgot to tell management she was staying with friends? That’s the extent of the “dirt” you have on her that you’re trying say she should have “grown” from.
This is laughable. I’m embarrassed for you.
So am I. Imagine being one of these commentators in real life. What are they on?
Emma is a quiet, graceful soul – who also just happens to swim really fast too in multiple events.
Why would people downvote this comment? Can someone explain….
There are people on the site that downvote all positive posts about Australians, especially Emma McKeon and Kyle Chalmers. You’ll see some totally innocuous comments like “Kyle swam so well today” with like 20 downvotes. It’s quite weird. I actually suspect it’s probably a few people who voting multiple times, because totally innocent posts will suddenly get 10-20 downvotes in a few minutes sometimes.
It’s going to be hilarious when Kyle beats CD a few months from now.
I never understood the basis for even having “votes” system on swimswam… what are they for? Not seeking approval for my comments
I have wanted this system disbanded for a long time.
I am guessing the voting system could be used as some sort of administrator tool to filter and flag comments of certain users with consistent down votes so they can be checked and moderated before those comments go live….I don’t know, just a pure guess.
Great interview. It’s good to know that she still plans to swim the 200 free.
