Emily Danielson Selects Binghamton University

Emily Danielson of the Clifton Park-Halfmoon Piranhas has elected to swim for Binghamton University for the 2016-2017 season. The Future Bearcat took the opportunity to swim in her home state of New York, a key point in Binghamton’s recruiting as 18 out of the 22 athletes on their 2015-2016 roster hail from the Empire State. She’ll join fellow Saratoga Springs High alumnus and brother Alex Danielson of NJIT in the NCAA DI ranks.

Danielson’s breaststroke ability is the biggest asset for the Bearcats. Binghamton had Corinne Zotter and Caitlin Kelly in the 100 breast A Final at the 2015 America East Conference Championships but graduated both.  Her current 100 time would have swam in the B Final of the America East Championships giving the Bearcats freshman depth to help fill in the gap left by their exit.

“After trips to multiple schools, I realized Binghamton was the school for me. They have an amazing team and I could really picture myself swimming there. I’m so excited to be a Bearcat!”

Danielson credits training with Chuck Dunham at the Clifton Park-Halfmoon Piranhas for her success at the NYSPHSAA Championships and Speedo Championships. If she’s able to improve upon the times posted at those meets this season, Danielson will be a point scorer for the Binghamton Bearcats in their conference next year.
