Madison Edgewood provided a fresh face at the top of the Division 2 Wisconsin high school swimming rankings in week 3, while Arrowhead maintained its stranglehold on the Division 1 lead.
Edgewood crushed the Fort Atkinson Invite over the weekend, winning 10 of 11 events to rise to the #1 ranking. Edgewood was second overall at last year’s Division 2 (small schools) state meet behind Grafton.
All classes contributed to Edgewood’s runaway victory: freshman Kaitlyn Barth swept the sprints, sophomore Kelly Rodriquez the 200 and 500 frees, junior Lauren Bergmann the 100 fly and 100 back and senior Maggie McNeil the 200 IM. McNeil was also second in the 100 breast.

For the big schools of Division 1, Arrowhead remains a fixture on top of the rankings. The defending state champs rolled Muskego in a dual meet to keep the #1 spot.
The whole top 4 remained stable in Division 1. Middleton continues to ride high in second place. Beata Nelson‘s Verona team sits third and Katie Drabot and Cedarburg are fourth. Nelson and Drabot, two of the top high school seniors in the nation, combine to hold the state’s top time in every event but the 100 back and 100 breast.

The WISCA (Wisconsin Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association) rankings are based entirely off of the state’s database of top times. The top 30 times in each event earn points for their team, #1 earning 30, #2 29, #3 28 and so on down to #30 earning 1. Relay rankings are worth double points.
