Eastern Michigan Eagles Land Ohio Distance Freestyler Nicole Swartz

Centerville High School senior Nicole Swartz has signed an NLI to swim with the Eastern Michigan University Eagles beginning with the 2015-16 season.

“I picked Eastern because it was a perfect fit. Peter Linn’s distance program has produced some of the best swimmers , I felt like I was already part of the team on my recruiting trip, and I really believe that I will become the best swimmer I can be at Eastern Michigan. I can’t wait to be an eagle next year!”

Swartz is a member of WTRC Sharks Swim Team, where she excels in mid-distance to distance free as well as 400 IM and 200 back. She competed in the 200 and 500 freestyles at the 2014 Ohio State High School Division 1 Sectional meet and her top SCY times include:

1650y free – 16:56.10
1000y free – 10:19.93
500y free – 4:57.08
200y free – 1:55.32
200y back – 2:06.73
400y IM – 4:32.93

Swartz’s 1650 would have been a top-eight time at 2014 MAC conference championships, where the 2-3-4-5 teams in the standings were only separated by 50 points so every little point matters. Her 500 would have landed her in the B-final. EMU had 1 up/1 down in the mile at MACs. There was a stronger Eagles presence in the 500 with 1 up/3 down. Many of them will still be there when Swartz arrives, including Grace VanAllen, Becca Detro, and Carly Jackson. Swartz will further strengthen this group and should give the Eagles a boost in their quest for the MAC title.
