Delaware Swim Team’s Brett Saunders has announced his verbal commitment to the University of Tampa. Saunders is a senior at Conrad Schools of Science in Wilmington, Delaware. He is a six-time individual finalist and six-time relay finalist for Conrad at the DIAA Swimming & Diving Championships over the course of his three seasons of high school swimming. Most recently, he placed second in both the 200 IM and 100 breast as a junior.
Saunders’ strongest events, however, are longer than what is offered in the high school format: 400 IM, 200 breast, and 200 back. Saunders told SwimSwam, “I have focused on my IM, but I really want to improve in breaststroke and backstroke this year. Getting a new coach this year has given me the opportunity to try some new events.”

Tampa men finished third at the 2015 Sunshine State Conference Championships, and could have used the points Saunders is capable of scoring. His current 400 IM time would have earned him a ticket into the A final, whereas his 200 IM, 200 breast, 100 breast, and 200 back would all have made B finals.
“Right when I walked on the campus I knew I wanted to be there for the next four years. The coaches and swimmers there are awesome and I could not imagine myself going anywhere else.”
