Dominican Republic Synchro Junior National Team Presentation

As part of an emotional event was presented the Dominican Republic Synchronized Swimming Junior National Team which will compete at the UANA Pan American Synchronized Swimming Championships to be held in San Juan, Puerto Rico. This competition will take place from September 1st to September 4th.

The UANA Pan American Synchronized Swimming Championships is organized annually by the Union Americana de Natacion (UANA) and this year brings together around 250 athletes from 14 countries, among which are: United States, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Costa Rica and Puerto Rico.

Were at the presentation Francisco de la Rosa, General Secretary of the Dominican Swimming Federation (FEDONA) and Lucia D’Andrade, National Coach. Also present were Arturo Ramirez, President of the Distrito Nacional Swimming Association (ASONADINA); Carlos Torres and Jose Raul Tejeda, both from SINCRODOM Parents Committee. The athletes and their parents attended as well.

As a representative of FEDONA Mr. De la Rosa, indicated the Federation efforts to meet their annual plan, which this competition is part of. He also congratulated the SINCRODOM Parents Committee for all their support on this trip.

D’Andrade described the technical process for athletes preparation and introduced all of the team members.

Mr. Alexis Morel, Jet Blue General Manager in Dominican Republic, was invited as his company supported the Dominican team’s air transportation to Puerto Rico. Mr. Morel thanked the invitation and noted that such kind of support is part of the airline’s Corporate Social Reponsability policy.

Jose Raul Tejeda, on behalf of SINCRODOM thanked the institutions that collaborated to make this trip possible, including: Seguros Banreservas, Jet Blue, FEDONA, ASONADINA, Patronato Complejo Acuatico, Agora Mall, Acropolis Center, Megacentro, Soluciones Digitales Plan B .

The teams are in 16-18 category: Nicole Torres (captain) and Kristyn Santos; 13-15 years category: Selinee Aquino (captain), Bianny Matos, Wilma Rondon, Caterina Vargas, Camila Vargas and Paola Pineda; category 12 years and under: Alejandra Metz (captain), Maria Fernanda Tejeda, Bivi Ventura, Amberly Polanco and Stephanie Rodriguez. Also are members of the delegation: Maribel Solis, Judge; Lucia D’Andrade, Head Coach; Katherine Martinez, assistant coach; Jose Raul Tejeda, team leader; Luvian Corniel, delegate and Ruth Marte, chaperone.

SINCRODOM

The Dominican Republic Synchronized Swimming Junior National Team in different categories, has participated in many international competitions at different levels since the 70’s, being these: Caribbean Championships, Central American and Caribbean Games, Pan American Games, Pre-Olympic, US and German Open, and the Olympics Games in 1984 Los Angeles, among others.

Some of the most recent achievements of SINCRDOM are: gold in figures, silver and bronze team CCCAN 2015. Finalists in solo and duet Pan American Championships 2013 and 2014. bronze in solo and duet, Mayagüez 2010.
