Missing what expects to be a titanic men’s sprint freestyle showdown, Brazil’s Matheus Santana has pulled out of the Junior World Championships in Dubai next week.
Translated from Portuguese:
Swimmer Matheus Santana, summoned to participate in the World, will be out of competition for health problems. Matheus is diabetic and his final examinations detected levels outside the standards for the effort that was about to make a competition of high technical level. He will be spared to health care.
As mentioned, Santana has diabetes, and complications from that has left him out of the Junior Worlds.
Remaining in the 50 free will be American Caeleb Dressel, Russian Evgeny Sedov, and Australian Luke Percy, among others.
Santana has broken several Brazilian National Age Group Records, including those held by World Record holder Cesar Cielo, having been 22.79 in the long course 50 free at only 16 years old.
See the full Brazilian roster below, with Santana removed. It is likely that Luiz Altamir will take his spot on the 400 free relay with his 51-low:

Brazil Team will miss him badly…
Sure, Sedov, Percy and the americans ( to say just a few) would not have a chance against Santana !!!
I never said that…
But with him, 4x100free and 4×100 medley are a lot stronger.
