Delta State Promotes Kyle Friesenhahn to Full-Time, Hybrid Coaching Job

10239Delta State has promoted former graduate assistant Kyle Friesenhahn to a full-time role. Last year, Friesenhahn worked with the program’s divers, including taking Matt Swaine to the NCAA Championships where he was 12th on the 1-meter.

This year, Friesenhahn will work in a dual role. He will continue to coach the program’s divers, and will also assist Dan’l Murray with the swimmers. Thi sis a role that he’s held before at Division III Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Missouri. There, he was head diving coach and assistant swimming coach from 2009-2013.

According to Murray, the program’s head coach, Friesenhahn is the first full-time diving coach in program history, and their first full-time assistant in 5 years. The Statesmen have relied heavily on graduate assistants to lead its diving program.

The Delta State women finished 12th and the Delta State men finished 14th at the 2014 NCAA Division II Championship meet.

2010 – Graduate Assistant
·         Member of NAIA and Liberal Arts Conference Swim and Dive Coaching Staff of the Year.
·         Coached two swimmers to sectional and NAIA cuts.
·         Assistant coach to Colin Sharpe, John Toczek and John Rundle as they earned NAIA All-American honors for both 1-meter and 3-meter.
