CSU-Pueblo hires coach for brand new swimming program

Colorado State University – Pueblo has hired Brian Pearson as the first head coach of its newly-created women’s swimming and diving program.

Pearson comes to Pueblo from Colorado Mesa, where he was coaching the college’s club program after stepping down as collegiate head coach in 2012. Pearson spent 6 seasons as the head coach of the Mavericks and coached 8 seasons before that at Colorado College. Before his coaching career, Pearson was a high school hotshot from Pueblo Central, and went on to have a successful college career with the Universities of Missouri and Wyoming.

The Pueblo women’s program will make its humble beginnings during the 2014-2015 season. The 6-lane, 25-yard CSU-Pueblo swimming facility is being renovated and repurposed this year, getting starting blocks, a 1-meter diving board and a timing system installed in preparation for the team’s inaugural season.

The ThunderWolves will compete in Division II of the NCAA as well as the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
