The Collegiate Swim Coaches’ Association of America (CSCAA) has named Minnesota senior Lexi Tenenbaum the 2017 NCAA Division I Diver of the Year.
Tenenbaum finished 13th on the 1-meter, 4th on the 3-meter, and 7th on the platform. That means that among an elite Minnesota diving crew that had 1 NCAA title, 1 national runner-up, and 7 total All-America awards, Tenenbaum was the only one to score in, or even compete in, all 3 diving events.
She scored a total of 31 points for Minnesota, after having scored just 3 in her previous 3 NCAA seasons combined. Her previous high finish on the 3 meter was 34th at last year’s NCAA Championships.
The award is called “Diver of the Year,” though it is based on only the results of the NCAA Championships.
I’ve never even heard of her before.
