INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana University diving program had a tremendous day on Saturday at the 2015 USA Diving Winter National Championships and World Cup Trials at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis.
Headlining the effort was IU alumna Amy Cozad, who captured the national championship and a spot on Team USA’s World Cup team with her gold medal performance in the women’s platform. Cozad won the event with a score of 1008.35.
Jessica Parratto, competing as an individual, will join Cozad on the U.S. World Cup team in the platform dive after winning the silver medal on Saturday with her total of 955.10.
Earlier this week, Cozad and Parratto teamed together to win the gold medal in the women’s 10-meter synchro, earning spots on Team USA for the 2016 FINA Diving World Cup competition in Rio de Janeiro onFebruary 19-24, 2016.
In the men’s 3-meter final, Michael Hixon, competing as an individual, earned his spot on the U.S. World Cup roster, winning the silver medal with a total of 1397.20. Hixon, along with gold medalist Kristian Ipsen of Stanford, will represent the United States in the 3-meter dive in February.
Also in the men’s 3-meter final, Indiana alum Darian Schmidt placed 10th overall with a score of 1177.55.
