Colombia Diver Carolina Murillo Urrea Receives 2-Year Doping Ban for Cocaine

FINA announced today that Colombian diver Carolina Murillo Urrea received a two-year ban from the Colombian Swimming Federation (FECNA) for having tested positive to the metabolites of Cocaine (Class S.6.a Non-Specified Stimulants) last summer. Murillo Urrea was subject to a doping control test conducted during the Diving Inter-Leagues National Championships in Medellin, Colombia, on July 8, 2014.

On September 15, 2014, FECNA’s Disciplinary Committee imposed a sanction of 2 years’ ineligibility on Murillo Urrea.

Murillo Urrea competed for Colombia at the FINA World Championships in both Shanghai, China and Barcelona, Spain. In November of 2013, she won gold in platform diving, silver in 3-meter, and bronze in 1-meter diving at the Bolivarian Games. She also represented her country at the 2014 South American Games in Santiago, Chile.
