Caeleb Dressel Plays The Men’s NCAA DI Championships Prediction Game

Seven-time Olympic gold medalist Caeleb Dressel appears to be returning to form.

Were you like me, worrying that this moment might not happen?  When someone wins seven gold medals and starts a family, winning more Olympic gold feels–less important. Of course that narrative could go cut another way, and I think it has, that   Caeleb Dressel is capitalising on  his newfound “dad” strength. What do you think?

The Westmont Pro Swim was very promising. Caeleb ripped:

  • 21.8 – 50m free
  • 48.5 – 100m free
  • 51.2 – 100m fly

In this interview Caeleb unpacks his races, including the 50 free block malfunction, his training cycle, and he plays the prediction game.

CAELEB DRESSEL PREDICTIONS….FROM CAELEB DRESSEL

Are Caeleb’s 2018 NCAA records in danger at the 2024 Men’s NCAA DI Championships?

Based on how Caeleb responded, he’s a fan at his core, and it sounds like he’d like to see his records fall. He clearly see Tennessee Volunteer Jordan Crooks as a threat in the 50 free. And he sees Florida Gator Josh Liendo as a threat in the 100 fly.

But who cares what Caeleb Dressel thinks. It’s all about what you think. Drop your comments below!

Wonder if we will see Caeleb and Cameron go back and forth with 50 free times in the lead up to Paris.

Dressel was 21.84 last week and McSprinter just responded with a 21.81

Someshing just doesn’t sit right with “as per the stopwatch you won by .03 of a second” when it takes a human .1-0.3 of a second to react to a stimulus. I understand why we need that procedure especially for levels below professional competition, but at the highest level with money on the line it seems a bit disrespectful to our intelligence to declare that we actually had any idea who out touched who.

PSS prize money is pretty small. Not saying it’s chump change but probably close. Imagine if this happened at a FINA World Cup or World Championship event!

Human reaction time is most certainly
Faster than .3

That 100 free time prediction will maybe get him on the team, but only on the relay. I think he goes 47 low. He’s toying with his competition and that is evident the last 15 meters.

I’d say 100 fly is close to 50 flat.

100 free is the toughest. Especially with this field

The thing about the 100 free it’s that it’s on the last day so a lot of energy management comes into play

He swam every relay and breaststroke in one of them, he also swam prelims at the time of the relays I think.
Of course at the time he was capable of a faster time but given the circumstances he delivered big time

Yeah everyone was super disappointed cause they thought he was going 39.2 or something lol. “He doesn’t break 39 but he breaks 40!!!”

Weird title for the article. I would’ve never known or imagined it was a Gold Medal Minute without seeing the YouTube video pop up last night.
