Colgate Gains Commitment from Jason Godelman for Class of 2020

The Colgate Raiders have gained another commitment for their class of 2020 with Los Angeles Swim Club’s Jason Godelman.

Godelman, who is finishing up his senior year at Crespi Carmelite High School, committed to Colgate University over several competitive D1 offers.

Godelman is a mid-distance freestyler/butterflyer swimmer. What’s exciting about Godelman is not only his work ethic, but his rate of improvement. Godelman has improved every year so far, and looks to have a lot of upside to his senior year.

In a three-year span he has dropped 7 seconds in the 200m free, 14 seconds in the 400m free, 9 seconds in the 100m fly, and a whopping 37 seconds in the 200y fly. At this rate of improvement, the sky is the limit for young Godelman and the Raiders.

Godelman swims for Crespi Carmelite HS in California, an elite all boys Catholic school with a fantastic academic reputation. This past season he had top three finishes in both of his events at the extremely competitive CIF-SS CA OB Mission League finals meet. He was also the fly leg of his team’s CIF-SS Division 1 finals 200 Medley Relay team.

Even though he still has a year to improve before he gets to campus, he looks to make an immediate impact by strengthening the Raiders squad next year, as they look to improve their standing in the Patriot League. It is likely that he will swim the 200 Freestyle, 500 Freestyle, and 200 Butterfly. His times in those events are respectively 1:47.36, 4:57.11, and 2:01.86.

Godelman excitingly exclaims “I chose Colgate because its beautiful and welcoming campus really felt like a place that I wanted to spend my next four years at. Colgate’s really strong academic reputation, especially in the sciences, played a huge role as well. I felt very comfortable and welcomed by the amazing coaching staff and I am very excited to be a Raider next year. Go ‘Gate!!”
