CIF-CS Record-Holder Stephanie Bartel Verbally Commits to Pitt

Stephanie Bartel, a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American from Clovis, California, has committed to swim for the University of Pittsburgh next year. “I recently committed to the University of Pittsburgh. It was the perfect balance of acedemics and athletics that I was looking for. The team and coaches were so welcoming and I loved the campus and pool. Go panthers!” [sic]

Bartel is a senior at Buchanan High School. At the 2016 CIF-Central Section Division I Championships last May, she won the 200 IM (2:02.38) and 100 back (55.08), breaking CIF-CS division records in both events. She also broke the division record in the 100 free while leading off Buchanan’s 400 free relay (50.60).

Bartel swims year-round for Clovis Swim Club. She had a good junior year in club swimming as well, earning new LCM times in all her best events this summer (100/200/400m free, 100m back, and 200/400m IM). Her best SCY times are:

  • 50 back – 26.14
  • 100 back – 55.08
  • 200 back – 2:01.48
  • 200 IM – 2:02.38
  • 100 free – 50.60
  • 200 free – 1:50.74

Bartel will join fellow commits Katy Miller and Lea Gwennap in the University of Pittsburgh class of 2021.
