China Keeps Diving Sweep Alive As Long Daoyi and Wang Zongyuan Win 3M Synchro Event

China’s Long Daoyi and Wang Zongyuan kept the momentum going in the diving events as the county hopes to sweep all eight diving events with gold. Long and Wang finished two points ahead of Mexico in the 3 meter synchronized springboard event.

Long and Wang had a final score of a 446.10, just two points ahead of Mexico’s Juan Manuel Celaya Hernandez and Osmar Olvera Ibarra as they scored a 444.03. The win for Wang allowed him to defend his title in the event as he won alongside partner Xie Siyi at the 2020 Tokyo Games.

Long and Wang had the lead through the first three dives but fell to 2nd after round 4 as Celaya Hernandez and Olvera Ibarra took the lead for the round. Long and Wang then had their highest scoring dives in the last two rounds, with a 85.68 in round 5 and a 95.76 in the final round to seal the win.

Great Britain’s Anthony Harding and Jack Laugher won bronze in a final score of a 438.15. Laugher notably was 7th in the event in Tokyo. Their highest dive came in the final round as well, with a score of a 94.62.
