The Chinese national synchronised swimming team won the overall World Trophy title this weekend in Shaoxing, China, on the occasion of the 10th edition of the event organised by FINA.
The team was very successful, claiming four golds out of five at grabs and totalling 363.3333 points after the two-day competition. The battle for the overall silver and bronze medals was quite tough but Russia ended up second (349.5000), keeping last year’s World Trophy’s rank, and Ukraine came third (347.8335). Other strong contingents Japan and Spain ranked fourth and fifth, in this order.
In Shaoxing, the Chinese and Russian national squads confirmed their clear dominance in this spectacular discipline; China triumphed in the Free Team Routine with 91.8334, Italy took silver (91.1667) while Japan placed third with 86.5000 points.
The Highlight routine was also won by China (91.3333), Russia finished second (87.6666) and Japan claimed the bronze with 86.8333 points. The Free Combination and the Thematic Duet were another success for China.
Giorgio Minisini and Mariangela Perrupato of Italy, bronze in Kazan, triumphed in the highly anticipated Mixed Duet with 89.1667, while Ukraine’s Kateryna Reznik / Anton Timofeyev came second and Spain’s Sanz Ferreras / Pau Ribes third.
China is the nation holding the most titles (2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015) while Spain (2008, 2010 and 2011) holds three World Trophy title. Russia won two editions (2006, 2007) and Canada triumphed at home in 2009.
