Cassidy Burns and Allison Ahl Send Commitments to Gannon

Erie, Pennsylvania’s Gannon University has received commitments from in-state sprinters Cassidy Burns of Fairview and Allison Ahl from Union City. Both committed to swim in the class of 2022.

Cassidy Burns

“I choose Gannon University to excel in my swimming, academics and excellence. I am very excited to be a Knight!”

Burns attends Fairview High School, where she specializes in butterfly and backstroke. She is a member of the state-champion medley relay quartet from Fairview, which she led off in 27.62. She also placed 13th in the 100 fly (59.12) and 16th in the 100 back (59.60), and led off the 9th-place 400 free relay (54.68) at the 2017 PIAA Girls’ AA Swimming and Diving Championships.

Allison Ahl

“I chose Gannon University to continue my education and swimming career because of their top-notch academic majors and promising swim team with supportive and dedicated coaches and athletes. Gannon University is where I will feel the most at home because I instantly clicked with the team when I met them. I am excited to be a part of such an exceptional team.  I am also excited to be on a team with some girls I’ve always had to compete against.”

Ahl is a senior at Corry Area High School. She placed 16th in the 100 free (53.72) and 22nd in the 200 free (1:58.92) at the 2017 PIAA Girls’ AA Swimming and Diving Championships. She also swims year-round with Lake Erie Silver Dolphins. She had a strong summer long course season, updating her PBs in the 50/100/200 free and 50 fly. At the Lake Erie Swimming Long Course Senior Championships she placed 7th in the 50 free, 12th in both the 100 free and 200 free, and 22nd in the 50 fly and 100 fly.
