The Cali Condors made a statement in the early events of the 2019 ISL Grand Finale in Las Vegas Friday, with Lilly King and Nic Finke taking down American records in their respective 50 breast races.
King, who owned the previous American record from 2016 at 28.92, went 28.90. American teammate Molly Hannis took second in 29.05 and Energy Standard’s Imogen Clark was third in 29.61. With the win, King secured an undefeated ISL season in the 50 breast and broke her US Open record of 29.00.
On the men’s side, Fink won in 25.75, besting Ian Finnerty’s record of 25.99 from the College Park meet last month. Fink defeated the London Roar’s Adam Peaty, who was 25.88, and Energy Standard’s Ilya Shymanovich, who was 25.92. Fink also best Felipe Lima‘s US Open record of 25.92. Fink took sixth place in the event in College Park at 26.50 and third in Naples at 26.29.
And there’s a solid chance he won’t even make the team next year…
Based on the way wilson just swam, I wouldn’t count on that statement.
